at+m integrated marketing wins Tasmanian environmental award
At a gala event held on May 30th, in Hobart and attended by Michelle O'Byrne - Minister for the Environment, Parks, Heritage and the Arts - at+m integrated marketing was presented with the award for Small Business Sustainability for our environmental initiatives. The Tasmanian Awards for Environmental Excellence recognise significant achievements in environmental management and acknowledge the people and organisations that are setting the standards in caring for our environment.
In March 2007, we gained ISO14001: 2004 accreditation of our Environmental Management System (EMS) which has been applied to all areas of our business. Since the introduction of the EMS, at+m have reduced our chemical usage by 20%, trade waste by 41%, and reduced the overall output of waste by 39%. The Company is setting new industry standards, particularly in the areas of recycling, where 97% of all the waste generated within the business is now recycled.
Apart from the commercial and ethical benefits, the EMS allows at+m to offer our clients a range of environmentally responsible marketing solutions. The EMS has been branded as Rethink® and the use of this registered trademark is available to help customers realise and promote their own responsibility.
In achieving the ISO14001: 2004 accreditation, at+m integrated marketing is the only printer in Tasmania, and a handful of printers nationally, to have achieved such a standard. As a result, this small Tasmanian business is leading the industry in terms of environmentally sustainable practices, and through increased consumer awareness, is realising the commercial advantages of environmentally sustainable business practice.
Rethink Competition
Environmental message hits the spot with public.
at+m integrated marketing’s recent Rethink® competition was a resounding success. The competition ran over the months of May and June. True to our name we used an integrated approach utilising print, television, online, email, building signage and point of sale advertising mediums. The Company was pleased with the levels of interest and enquiries we received across all levels of the business (our website traffic increased between 400-600% over this time)! Overall, we received some 1200 entries from individuals and companies eager to win our terrific prize!
Unfortunately, there could only be one winner. at+m wishes to extend its congratulations to Anthony Wright from Rae & Partners! Anthony is the lucky recipient of a two night getaway at Angasi Apartment Binalong Bay, including breakfasts and dinner for two. We hope Anthony enjoys his prize.
We would like to thank everyone who entered the competition and remember – everyone can be a winner by using our Rethink® environmental print process for their next print job.
Integrated Marketing Seminars
at+m in conjunction with Total Business Consultants is pleased to announce that due to resounding success last year, we will be holding our integrated marketing seminars for the second year running! The seminars, supported by the TCCI, will be held in Devonport, Launceston and Hobart in mid-to-late August (See below for registration and information).
To determine the most relevant topics, we undertook a survey of TCCI members earlier this year. The results of this survey highlighted an interest in Branding and Customer Service. Therefore, this year we will be covering both these areas, with topics such as "What constitutes a Brand"; "What is the value of a Brand"; "How to apply a Brand"; and "How to make the most of your Brand through Customer Service".
The seminars are a chance for operators of any size to come along and gain valuable insight from professionals within the industry. Questions are encouraged and afterwards, there will be a chance to socialise and network with other attendees as well as our presenters.
Places do fill up fast, so please remember to register soon!

Drupa – International Graphics & Printing Trade Fair
In June, our Managing Director, David Peck, travelled to Düsseldorf to attend the international printing trade fair “Drupa”. Drupa is the largest graphics and printing trade event in the world. Held every four years, it is the showcase for unveiling future trends and the latest product launches. David was pleased to see environmental initiatives evident in the majority of the 1971 exhibitor stands, showing that at+m is on track with the world with our environmental print processes.
1.5 million people passed through the doors of the exhibition over 14 days, with the total walk to cover all exhibitors over 100 kilometres! 10 billion Euros worth of equipment was sold at the exhibition, with at+m also purchasing another Heidelberg fully automated printing press. It is intended that the printing press will help us address the trend for faster delivery of high quality environmental print work.
at+m gets dressed for success
Those of you who drop into our offices regularly will have noticed our staff looking even more savvy than normal. Our new uniforms have arrived, and if we do say so ourselves, they look fantastic. The uniforms have been implemented across the entire Company as one of the final steps of our integrated rebranding.
Reflecting our new logo and Company colours, the uniforms are a great way to present our staff, as well as a consistent brand image. Next time you come in, let us know what you think!

The Website Development Process and Content Managed Systems
Website Development
at+m has a holistic approach to website design that considers your Company’s entire marketing plan. We determine how your Company’s message is best translated for presentation online. This online development of your marketing message has many creative and technical aspects, including:
- copywriting for the web;
- layout and presentation;
- visual design and layout;
- interaction design and usability;
- cross-platform compatibility; and
- technology platforms.
at+m delivers online solutions that take advantage of its integrated marketing, design and development departments.
Content Management Systems
If you want a website that you can update easily yourself every day, you need a Content Management System (CMS). Not all CMS’ are created equal – you need a tool that is not only powerful and easy to use, but which adheres to international standards in web site accessibility. This is where at+m can help. at+m can provide your business with a CMS with many features, including:
- absolute control over the sequence and nesting of pages.
- support document check-in and check-out to allow for multiple content authors.
- ability to hide documents from the public while you are authoring the content.
- separate content from presentation to free you from worrying about stylistic consistency.
- allow you to author valid XHTML.
- produce web pages that are standards-compliant and accessible by a wide range of browsers and operating systems.
- produce descriptive search-engine-friendly URLs:
(e.g. example.com/about/contact.htm instead of example.com/index.asp?id=43).

Client Focus: St.LukesHealth
Integrated marketing campaign
The beginning of July saw the launch of an integrated marketing campaign for St.LukesHealth. at+m worked in conjunction with St.LukesHealth to coordinate the campaign from conceptualisation to finish.
The first part of the campaign was developing the message that the client wished to be conveyed and the best creative mediums to represent this.
Having recently completed a survey of their existing customers, it showed an extremely high level of customer satisfaction (to the extent that they would recommend St.LukesHealth to friends and family), we decided that a major point of difference between St.LukesHealth and their competitors was the fact that they provide genuine, personal service.
Once the message was established, we developed an integrated strategy to convey this message across print, television, radio, direct mail and point of sale mediums. The greatest advantage of an integrated approach is that it reaches consumers through many different channels and increases the likelihood of the message reaching the target market, whilst reinforcing a consistent brand message across all levels.
Initial indicators have shown that there is an increase in the level of enquiries and activity coming into the branches. A full diagnostic will be run upon the conclusion of the campaign to assess the full results.
